      "The sun and stars that float in the open air....the appleshaped
               earth and we upon it ....surely the drift of them is something
               grand;
       I do not know what it is except that it is grand, and that it is
               happiness,...."

What We Do

We help poetry groups within Oakville publicize their activities through a listing on this website and promote their interests through OPA’s membership in the Oakville Arts Council (OAC). A group with membership in OPA can promote their events to the community through the OAC’s website and newspaper advertisements and as inserts in OAC’s newspaper ‘Arts About Town’. We present events in Oakville to serve the broad community interested in poetry.

The Oakville Poetry Alliance exists to support the poetry community in Oakville. It has no input into the workings and programming of any of the groups. For information on the specifics of a group, click on their name on the left column.

The Oakville Prose Alliance performs similar services for prose writers.

The Oakville literary community is indebted to

The Town of Oakville Cultural Gants which are administered by the Oakville Arts Council
