The first poem we ever critiqued had a line about Pelicans which resulted in an intense discussion that led us to assume the name Pelicans.

PELICAN: any of various large, web-footed birds of the
genus Pelecanius of tropical and warm regions, having a
long straight bill from which hangs a distensible pouch of
skin for catching and holding fish.

WE
have distensible imaginations that catch and hold ideas.
And like the pelican, sometimes we circle round and round,
not quite happy with an idea, and then suddenly, there it
is.. and we catch it, hold it, and make it ours.  When we
write about it we share it with others.
